Hi,

I have a problem with IP4620 phones in my company.
When I want to call back an internal number from call log but the phone inserts a number (9) before the internal extension and calls this wrong number.
In example:
I have a missed call from 1234 when I select it from missed call log and press the call button the phone calls 91234.

Does anybody knows the solution for this problem?

Thank you in advance.

Norbert

You need to adjust your 46xxsettings.txt file (or the "Phones" option on your media server) to understand that you have a 4-digit dial plan. Once you set your extension length, the phone will understand that 1234 is internal. Then it will avoid inserting the 9. Hope this helps.

On your TFTP server edit the 46xxsettings file.

In the sections for the type of phones you're using you need to add the line "SET PHNDPLENGTH X" but replace x with the number of digits your internal extension are.

This will work as long as the TFTP server and the file are accessable when the phones boot. If for some reason the phones boot without accessing that file on the TFTP server they will default and insert a 9 to all calls.

Once you have edited the file you'll need to reboot all of your phones for this to solve the problem.

In an area w/10 digit diaing, how do you specify in the 46xxsettings file which area codes are local and do not require a "1"?

Was there ever an answer to the issue above. I can't find it anywhere and we are having the same issue with two clients. Both are in 10 digit dialing local areas and I can't locate how to tell the 46xx phones that when dialing these area codes, don't add a 1.
Thanks in advance for your help.

I am not aware of a way to fix it on the IP phones, but a way around the problem, would be to setup a special route that has the 1+ area code, and strip it off in the switch when you dial. If you have exchanges in your area that are LD and local, you could use the dreaded RHNPA table to accomodate the 1+ dialing. Our phone system dials everything as LD, and the switch decides the least cost route and does all the work for the user.

This is a good idea anyway, because it makes your phone system smarter than the user. I audited a LD bill for one month and found that the users were dialing 1+ for many of the calls that were local, including the diner across the street. I was paying LD charges to order lunch.
