we have a 412 setup and using quite well actually
with about 100 digital sets and some analogs
we are using tapi with act and it works well

Manager >
Address of Lan 1 is:
192.168.186.22 (address)
255.255.255.0 (broadcast)

Address of Lan 2 is:
192.168.186.23
255.255.255.0

-----------------------------------------------------------
Voicemail Machine Addresses
192.168.186.26 (address)
255.255.255.0 (broadcast)
192.168.186.3 (gateway ....Customer's)

*Lan 1 is where the Voicemail is plugged into and working fine .....

*Lan 2 is where we are plugged into Customer's Network

tried setting up ip routes so that we can see / ping to others

*able to ping 192.168.186.22 from Voicemail machine (Lan1)
but NOT 192.168.186.23 (LAN2) address or any other on Network

*able to ping 192.168.186.23 from Customer's Network but NOT 192.168.186.22 or 192.168.186.26 (address of Ip Office
Lan1 or Voicemail machine )

The customer uses address 192.168.186.23 for Phone Manager and Tapi portion ....

Hey I was glad we figured out the tapi portion ....am I missing something with routing in the Manager

I always keep the Voicemail plugged into The IP Office and not the customer's Network per Avaya

Phoneuser:)

You never use two the same Network range.
Make a diffrent range like 10.200.1.x so you can make a route to it.
But also the problem will be that the IP-Office will not be the gateway on your customers network. You wil not only need to program your IP-Office to reach the VM-Pro server but also the router(s) of the customer.

It is muts eaysier to put the VM-Pro on the same network it will not give you problems.

You don,t use the second Lan for the way you want.

I use it for IP-Stations on a diffrent V-Lan.
You need to now a little bit more about switching and routing.

Peter
So put Lan1 on its own Network scheme and the Voicemail Pro
Machine as well ...then make ip routes to ......as far as the switching and routing I agree .....

Thank you
Phoneuser:)

Phoneuser what is the problem, you say everything is working well and you only can,t ping to the VM-Pro.
If you put this in the same network than you can.

Greets Peter

With these settings on both LANs you can only ping devices on LAN 1 from LAN 2 or vice versa if the IP Office is used as a gateway.

If you ping a ip-address from the VM Pro these requests will only be send to those adapters on the same network ( LAN1 ) and will never be send to LAN2, the same happens on LAN 2.
If both LANS have separate IP addresses then you can do this.

Why not put everything on the same LAN? i see no advantage of using both LANs like you do.
I assume the customers network is of a 100 Mb switched type.
Connect everything to LAN2, the VM Pro is using approx 80kb per channel if active and this cannot be a problem in a 100 Mb switched network.
