45 second boot time?!?!

Illustrator CS is taking too long to load. It wouldnt be a problem if I kept it open all day, but I use photoshop and Indesign exclusively and I only need illustrator to edit eps once and a while during the day. Even with PS and ID closed it takes forever, and I don't have the same problem with any other Adobe CS product.
Any tips on speeding up Illustrators load time?
I'm on WinXp pro /P4 1.6Ghz/ 512 Mb ram

Don't worry, I've been on "both" sides if the river. Your PC is fine.

You may have corrupt TTF font. Illustrator hates these and will stall on startup trying to figure out what to do with it.

The only way to track it down is to watch the the font load list in the Illustrator startup window and see if it stalls on a font.

There may be a freebie utility that will scan for these. Do a google if you feel this is the problem.

Also check your Scratch Disk setting in AI and switch it to a different drive/partition if you have more than one.

Also if you have more than 70 fonts and aren't using a font manager this could be your problem too.

Well, I am kind of a font hog... over 1100 fonts installed. What font manager do you recommend?

Extensis Suitase for PC all the way.

Do not go Adobe Typemanager they haven't updated it in years.

thanks for the input guys. it seems like what taking most of the time is the plugins ( which should be only the deafault plugins that are loaded durring instalations since this is a new installation. questions, does CS look at the plugins that are installed in previous versions (ver 10) that I havent uninstalled?
