I've been having a problem with an HP 4350dtn where by anything that it duplex's it prints the pages on the wrong side and the text is upside down (this is using letterhead paper). When printing single sided it will print fine onto the headed paper with the text where it should be.

I thought it might be a settings problem to start with so i've re-installing the driver and reset the printer back to factory defaults (incase users had started to play around with the printer settings) but i can't seem to find why its decided to start doing this.

I'm at a loss, anyone with any ideas?

Thanks

With most of the current HP departmental range, any paper which is 'sided' (e.g. Letterhead, Pre-punched, etc.) has to be loaded in the tray one way for Duplex prints, and a different way for Simplex prints.

If you read the User Guide (usually provided in PDF format), it describes (separately for Simplex and Duplex prints) how different papers should be loaded.

Some drivers do have a 'rotate-180' feature, but I'm not sure whether or not this would allow both Simplex and Duplex prints from the same paper loading orientation.

Thanks for the info DansDadUK looks as though that is the case. Tried printing duplex and simplex from an HP Laserjet 8000 which managed to do both ok from the same paper orientation so it must be a limitation of the duplex units on that range of printers?

I don't know why HP would design it like this, seems such a common thing to do. Although speaking to our printer maintenance company they reckon you shouldn't duplex letter headed paper anyway!
