429 ActiveX Component Can't Create Object

i'm using msinet.ocx in VBA in excel to download files web pages. everything works fine on my PC. when i put it on a co-worker's machine i get:

429: ActiveX Component Can't Create Object

i've seen this problem elsewhere in this forum and others but no one offers a solution or explanation.

id' really appreciate the help

not the same problem.

i re-registered msinet.ocx succesfully and i reopened the excel sheet and reset the vb references.

no luck

the program does work however on my old computer, the only difference b/n my computers and everyone else's is that i've installed vb6 (and updates) on mine and no one else has.

should that really make a difference though?

I agree that it should not make a difference, but I'm sure we have seen crazier things. I am by no means an expert at this sort of thing, but did find one other reference that looks promising. I hope it helps:
