412 connection issues

I am working on my first 412 ... I am having issues directly connecting through the LAN port. I am statically assigning my IP Address as 192.168.42.4 to connect to the system, but I cannot connect. Do I need a crossover cable to connect to a 412? I have only worked with 406's, is there a catch somewhere using the 412?

In manager, upper left hand corner go to file> preferences> edit then put in the address of the unit. The default IP Address is 192.168.42.1 then ok. Give that a try.

Yes, a crossover cable is required for direct connection to the 412.
If it's a defaulted 412 enable DHCP on the device you are trying to manage from.
Then try a broadcast via Manager.

If not try via the LAN 2 port as above.

IP:192.168.43.4
Sub:255.255.255.0
Gateway:192.168.43.1

what did you statically assign that bank of numbers too? And is the third octed .43 or .42? If you assigned those numbers to the ip office, your pc needs to be a different number in the last octet and your prefrence address in manager needs to be that on of the ip office. And I have used both a crossover and straight through cable to connect to the ip office.

The crossover cable was what I needed... I was able to get right in. Unfortunately now I am having another issue. When I go to load the config onto the 412 - it says that "Configuration Conflicts With Selected System". Has anyone ever run into this?

troyz - technically a cross-over cable is needed. However a lot of newer PC's, especially laptops, have LAN ports that will automatically switch to crossover which is why you can sometimes get away with using a normal LAN cable.

What type of system was your config created for?

if it was for a 403 or 406 you will probably need to recreate the config

That is what I had suspected. I exported my entries and just imported them all into a new config and everything worked out OK without me spending too much time.
