I have a HP 4050 that is feeding multiple sheets from tray 2, randomly. I have replaced the tray rollers but am still having the problems. Any suggestions?
o Use good quality paper.
o "Fan" the paper before loading it, to make sure no edges are stuck together.
o Check the humidity... too dry = too much static = sticky pages
Just some things to try.

Sounds to me like your seperation roller is worn out. If not this than your paper tray is faulty or the plate in the tray is bent. You should check to make sure the small metal holder on the tray is actually holding the paper down in the tray. I would also check the small white plastic spacers on the front of the tray, should be 2, one on each side. they often fall off and fall under the plate. Remove them if this is the case. The printer will print fine without them.
There's 2 rollers... one on the paper tray itself, and one on the underside of the unit. Both of those would need to be replaced. If you replaced only one, you can still have issues. I usually order them in pairs.
Addionally, the separation roller on the paper tray has a "clutch" that it engages with. If that clutch has worn and is not giving adequate friction, it will not separate pages properly.
