Saturday I moved my old computer to another office for someone else to use. I did a clean install of Windows XP. Everything seems to be working fine except she can't access the internet because of the dreaded 403 Forbidden error. All the other computers are fine, including my new computer.

The other problem I have is I installed AOL Instant Messenger on my new computer (I had it on my old one), but I can't connect. It tells me the internet connection was lost. I downloaded it to another computer in the office to check to see if it was a server problem or a computer problem and it seems to be a computer problem because I was able to connect on the other computer.

I can't find any help for these issues on the Microsoft website and would greatly appreciate some fresh ideas.

I've discovered the answer myself purely by accident.

Here's the solution:
Get to Internet Options in whichever manner you like.
Click on the Connections tab.
Click on LAN Settings
Click on Advanced
Check the box next to "Use the same proxy server for all protocols"
Click OK
Click OK
Click OK
And voila!
