4000R and Windows 2003 Video Issues

Has anyone had problems with Windows 2003 and the default going to the lowest resolution on the 4000R series IBM servers? I can't seem to get the resolution higher after installing the Free Windows 2003 Enterprise six month trial.

Any ideas? Suggestions? Updates? Etc?

Problem is most likely because there is not a win03 S3 savage video driver available so you are using the default VGA mode.

Do you know where I can get one? Or what I can use instead? Very frustrating for W03 users.

Thanks!

Since this server was never built to support WIN03 there is most likely no video drivers for that controller. You could try a PCI video card and disable the onboard.

You should know that if you add a PCI video card to this system you will need to "edit" your monitor adapter to fit into the small slot on the back. Just take a knife and shave off some of the top and bottom of your monitor plug and it should work fine. We had to do this to get this system to work correctly.

It is designed to have a PCI RAID card with a RAID device ( thin adapter ) attached.

If I recall correctly, the 4000R was a sealed unit that did not facilitate adding or removing anything.

Yes the 4000R can have PCI devices added. That is if you did not trash the PCL "L" adapter that came with it.
