Hello.

I've recently installed a used 400 gs/ls/ttr module into slot 14 of our Legend (upgraded to Magix 3.0 v7.0) system. I have verified that the part number of the board (517D18) is compatible with the Magix software. I have gone to Slot Status and observed no errors, and when busying out the slot and demand testing it, the system correctly identifies the board type and it passes tests.

However, I get the dreaded "WinSPM cannot identify the board... disabling Quick Access..." message when I use WinSPM 9.0 to connect via the admin port. I have done multiple board renumbers and reseated the card to no avail.

Any suggestions welcome. :)

The 400 GS/LS TTR is not really fully compatible with the Magix software on your processor - especially the earlier versions of the module. WinSPM, for some reason, also does not like that module installed in a Magix.

It's not that it's not compatible with the Magix, but with the Quick Access features of WinSPM. Personally, I do all my programming from the standard SPM window, so there's nothing to worry about.

Well, I have gotten used to using a couple of the WINSPM features, but as TTT says, it's no big deal.

Mostly I use the LABELING Feature in the WINSPM.

So worst possible case, you have to enter the Labels manually.

A lot of people PANIC when they see that message, but don't let it bother you.

It's just that WINSPM doesn't like that card, the MAGIX is still happy.

I enjoy using WinSPM (especially) for labeling, the ease of viewing the restriction lists, and the inventory reports. I suppose it's just a shame that the cards "work, but don't work."

Any other cards I can add to this system for a few extra TTRs that won't interfere with WinSPM?

With at least 14 Slots in your Magix I would imagine you have enough. What is the system inventory.

CKE5 proc
9x 408GS/LS
2x 100DCD
1x 012RG
1x MLM007 4-port
1x 400 gs/ls/ttr

Once we increased the load on the system to 50 full-time personnel, we're not quite trunk-tied yet, but we do get "no TTRs available" error messages fairly often. The 400 gs/ls/ttr was meant to fix that.

OK, did it fix it?

If so, some cheap (after market?) 800 D-I-D modules could do the trick?

They each have 2 TTR's.

It does seem to have fixed the "No TTRs" issue, but I traded that issue for the WinSPM issue....

I'll take a peek for 800 DIDs - Thanks!

If you want to be cheap - get a Legend 016 T/R module - which has 4 TTR's - remove it from the Legend case and insert it in an empty Magix slot. It will look weird - but will work just fine.

Oops - I see you have a Legend - not a Magix carrier. So - just pick up an 016 Basic Tel module and replace the 400 GS/LS TTR module - they each have 4 TTR's and WinSPM will love it.

Considering he is using a 517D18, I think he should leave it in the Clam Shell.

I also think 2 of the D-I-D mods would be cheaper than one of the 016's.

Agreed the DID Modules are a cheap fix to the TTR problem but some of the older DIDs cause the same WinSPM issue depending on vintage.

nascomm1 is quite correct.

However if you can lay your hands on some 517G20 modules, those are the "SMALL FOOTPRINT" layout that should be OK with WINSPM.

The "517" number is on the top of the module.

Good Luck!
