3) BE ABLE TO ACCESS MAIL BOXES BY CALLING IN ...

***NOT SURE BUT MAY WANT TO DO AUTO ATTN IN THE FUTURE ***
ANY AND ALL INPUT ON THIS WOULD BE GREAT AND THANKS IN ADVANCE

You need to add a Tip/Ring card to be able to use the Fax and Credit Card machines

If you're going to answer all of the calls live, how are you going to know before you pick up the handset if it is an incoming fax or a person wanting to check their messages?

I would put the system in Hybrid/PBX mode, take the lines out of pool 70, and assign to the phones as "private lines", it will allow you more flexibility as you change things later.

Consider your incoming call flow, what should happen after hours, and what should happen if you can't live answer after a number of rings. At that point, do you want a mailbox to answer or an automated attendant? Do you want the calls to ring until answered or abandoned?

THANK YOU TTT I am going to cut and past from an older post

Let's assume that you've got the Messaging system working, and that you dial 770 to reach it. Assume that you've managed to create mailboxes for the extensions, and that the mailboxes answer after the phone goes unanswered for 3 rings.

SORRY I DO NOT HAVE THE ABOVE SET UP ....I DIAL 7929 TO ACCESS VOICEMAIL ...WHEN I DIAL 7929 I GET THE VOICE MAIL I AM UNSURE ABOUT THE NUMBERS like (770) SHOULD BE 7929 ? (791) SHOULD BE 7929? (Use 5 seconds per ring here) →Enter→Prompt Based Overflow→
Select Yes or No→Enter→Back→Back→Back
SHOULD I SELECT YES OR NO ?

Assign the lines that you want to be answered by the automated attendant to Calling Group 791

Extensions→ or More→Grp Calling→Line/Pool→
Dial Calling Group ext. no (791) .→Enter→Dial line/trunk no.→Enter→
Back→Back→Back

Set Calling Group 791 to Overflow to Calling Group 770

Extensions→ or More→Grp Calling→Overflow→
Dial Calling Group ext. no. (791)→Enter→Dial overflow ext. no.(770)→
Enter→Number Based Overflow→Drop→Dial no. of calls
(1-99) (Use 99 here) →Enter→Time Based Overflow→Drop→
Dial no. of seconds(0-900) (Use 5 seconds per ring here) →Enter→Prompt Based Overflow→
Select Yes or No→Enter→Back→Back→Back

[highlight #FCE94F]THE FOLLOWING I HAVE TRIED IT AFTER THE ABOVE INFO... DON'T GET THE SAME INFO ON THE POST.... WHEN I PUSH 9 I GET A ERROR "TRY AGAIN"

Log into the Merlin Messaging system administrator's mailbox, 9 for Programming, 3 for Extensions.

791# for mailbox 791
3 to assign an automated attendant to it
1 for automated attendant number 1
6 to create it WITHOUT an associated phone

WHEN I TRIED THE FOLLOWING IT DID NOT WORK

If you call 791 from a telephone, you should hear it ring for the number of seconds that you set in the overflow, then the automated attendant should answer. If you call into one of your lines that is assigned to Calling Group 791, it should ring on the phones as normal, and after the same number of seconds, the automated attendant should answer.

Log into a mailbox, select option 4 for Personal Operator. Set it to 791. Because mailbox 791 was created WITHOUT an associated phone, 0-out from a mailbox should transfer to the automated attendant right away.

SORRY FOR BEING A PAIN IN THE A##$%^%$ CAN YOU GIVE ME THE VOICEMAIL SET UP (DOES VM COME FIRST) AN THE THE REST ? H E L P HH EE LL PPP ME THX

also is programming via computer or via phone easier ?

Easy there, find your CAPS-LOCK button and disable it!

If you're dialing 7929 to reach voicemail instead of 770, that just means that someone used the auto-program function to set up the voicemail system. So yes, you would dial 7929 where you see 770. No, you don't substitute anything else for 791.

You can program from a computer running WinSPM software, connected via serial port to the Admin jack on the processor. You can also program from a 4424LD+ phone connected to the 1st station port.

Personally, I think it would be best to completely default the processor and the voicemail system and start from scratch. Set the Magix to Hybrid/PBX Mode, remove the extra operator positions, set the numbering plan to Set Up Space, then do the initial programming of the Merlin Messaging. Remove the lines from the pool and reassign to the phones, as you want a key system feel for your users. Renumber the extensions that you are going to use, and customize your incoming call flow.

See the attached pdf file for a step by step procedure to default the system and get it built back to a good starting point. The outline assumes you are programming via WinSPM, thus the Function keys it has you pushing, but it also makes sense when programming from the master phone.

If you want to do this, first back up your current configuration to the PCMCIA card, follow the steps in the pdf, then work towards customizing the system.
