I am running CUCM 8.0.3 on my network. I recently upgraded some of my remote locations from antiquated T1 connections to broadband VPN connections (with PFSense / Watchguard Firewalls). All of my remote locations have lost 4 digit dialing but I can still dial the 7 digit outside DID number and ring the site. Can someone point me in the right direction on fixing this?

CM doesnt care what data connection is connecting the sites. Did you change your IP Addresses?

Yes, due to other reasons besides call manager I had to change internal IP addresses at my locations.

How are the sites configured in CM? MGCP, H323, or SIP?

We are using MGCP and H323. Most of my remote locations have an ancient 1861 router with FXO cards and that is where my fax lines hook up. They were originally hooked up via T1 line and I switched the connection to broadband and set up vpn's via watchguards. Im thinking it might have something to do with routes need to be established in the call manager somehow but alas I am not a voice guy. Thank you for your help btw.

The IP's would need to be updated in the H323 gateways in CM for sure. MGCP relies on the hostname of the gateway and appropriate MGCP config on the router itself to talk to CM.

The IP's have been changed in the switches and the CM, but still not 4 digit dialing across locations. I can dial 4 digit from my main location to a remote location and a remote location can dial in to the main location (Main location = where CM Server is) but if one of my remote locations tries to call another remote location they can not dial the 4 digit extension. They can dial the full DID 7 digit number just fine and reach the other remote location.

Have you verified your dial peers are correct?

In my switch the Dial Peer is pointing towards the correct location

dial-peer voice 1 voip
voice-class codec 1
session target ipv4:10.25.101.5
incoming called-number .
dtmf-relay h245-alphanumeric
ip qos dscp cs5 media
no vad

The 10.25.101.5 is my Call manager.

Is there a dedicated voice connection for these remote sites or is there just a data connection between the HQ and remote site?

Currently just a data connection. I am eventually planning on switching the cisco phone system out with Digium but I would like for this system to work for the time being. On this particular connection there was a vlan 128 established but I re-routed everything through vlan 1 and the new IP address.

It sounds like you have a call routing issue in CM. Have you run DNA to see what is saying?

I have not run a DNA. Can you help me do that? On CM 8.0.3?

You need to go into Serviceability, under Tools. Dialed Number Analyzer. Its pretty straight forward from there I believe.

Im sorry Im just now getting back to you on this. I have been very busy lately and concentrating on other IT problems. So I found the DNA section and I ran an analysis on one of the dialed extensions where I am having the problem. It showed up as all correct but it is running the test from the location of the call manager. Where I am having the problem is between remote locations. Example: Remote location 1 tries to dial 4 digit extension for remote location 2. It will ring and the person who picks up at remote location 2 will be able to hear the person at remote location 1 but remote location 1 cannot hear remote location 2.

Gotcha.

1 way audio, if across a WAN is a networking routing issue most likely. Could be the carrier though too.
