Hey, all. Just a quick question. I don't know if I completely spaced it in the documentation or not, but does a firmware upgrade from 4.1 up to 4.2 require upgrading the prompts in Embedded Voicemail?

The reason I ask is because we have a customer who's having a couple problems with their AutoAttendants that worked fine prior to the upgrade last week. Callers are unable to use the DialbyNumber feature (1 + extension number), and when they press 1, it simply repeats the AA greeting and doesn't allow DTMF tones to break the greeting so they can make another selection.

The other problem is that I'm unable to use a normal or blind transfer off the AutoAttendant to a user that is Unconditional Call Forwarded. I can dial the extension from within the office and it rings the proper cell phone, but when trying to transfer off the AA, it's no go.

They're using an IP406v2 with 2x ATM4 modules with regular analog lines.

Anyways, thanks for the input in advance.

The DialbyNumber is partially broken at my site. When you press the digit to launch dialbynumber, the prompt begins playing again. If the caller keeps dialing, the system will successfully transfer the call.
Don't know about your part 2..

Cool, thanks. Good to know I'm not alone.

I did jump on a call with my distributor and they told me there was an update in the prompts between 4.1 and 4.2. But after looking through the installation files for Embedded VM I didn't see any indication for it, so I must've just missed this fact elsewhere.

I'm most likely still going to downgrade the customer if the DialbyNumber is partially broken -- we upgraded initally to mess with the advanced analog trunk options to try troubleshooting some echo problems, but we narrowed it down to a provider problem.

Thanks!

Funny - my distributor said there was NOT a prompt upgrade between 4.1 and 4.2...

Welp, went back onsite today to see what was up.

Upgrade the voicemail prompts and made several test calls. The DialbyNumber feature was still messed. So I downgraded back to 4.1.15, tested and it started working again.

My other issue didn't lie with Embedded Voicemail.. when we upgraded the customer to 4.2.4 last week, it turned Trunk-to-trunk transfer off on the Analog Lines. I should've thought to check it earlier, but I just didn't think about it knowing that "it was working before." But, of course, that's dangerous thinking -- it took a call into my distributor again to realize what the issue was. Turned the option back on, and voila. I could transfer to the emergency phone again. Just goes to prove that I need to check these kinds of things to see if by default they get disabled on an upgrade, whether it makes sense for that to happen or not.

Anywho, thanks for the input -- think I'm still staying away from 4.2 for now, until the next maintenance release! I've ran into far too many bugs to comfortably roll it out to a customer site without the need for some of the new features.

does anyone know when avaya will release the next maintenance release from 4.2.4? The DialbyNumber feature is jacked and it's killing me.

From Avaya:
The GA date for our 4Q builds is currently 3 November

is it possible to leave them on 4.1 for the mean time? using the latest and greatest software is always something you should steer clear of until a few releases in....
