I have a 100 Base-FX module on SuperStack II 3300 connected between two buildings running for 2 years. Now it's driving me nuts! The connection always lost (by PING) and what I've done is to applied change to module port (#25) settings. Does anyone knows what's wrong?

Switch software version 2.66
Port: 25
Speed: 100Mbps HD
Auto-negotiations: Disabled
Speed/Duplex: 100Mbps HD
FD Flow Control: Disabled
HD Flow Control: Disabled
802.1p Multicast: Disabled
Untagged VLAN: 1 Default VLAN
Fwd Unknown VLAN: Disabled
Port State: Enabled
Security: Enabled
PACE: Stack Default
VLT Tagging: Disabled
802.1Q VLAN Learning: Stack Default

Thanks in advance for your times.

Could it be a virus jamming up your line? It is unlikely given fibre bandwidth capability but it could be giving the switches excessive work and thus causing the line to appear unresponsive. Try putting a sniffer package on and looking at what is passing.

Other than that, I have found the 3300 to be very heat sensitive and had one malfunction after the ac died for a day....and other equipment trudged on faithfully.

Hope this helps.

Have you already cleaned the 100 Base-FX module?
The 3300 switches are real dust catcher.
Sometimes the dust on the module causes a lot of errors.
For example last week I hade the "Christmas Tree syndrom" on a switch
but after cleanig the module everythings gonna be okay.

Try to upgrade to the newest firmware version (2.71)!
Like tryssenaar said, why don't you turn on "Full Duplex"?
Why don't you turn on "Flow Control" on that link?
And why do you have the "Security mode" enabled on such a link?
