Every 3Com hub & switch in my enterprise freezes with all LED's on solid. The network performs perfectly during this freeze. Lasts from 5 minutes to 20 minutes. Other times the LED's show normal flashing activity.

Happy days.....

We used to get that but the device's on the unit would stop responding.

As ever the only response from 3com was to upgrade - never fixed it. so we ripped all the 3com gear out and replaced it with extreme.

"It's not getting any smarter out there. You have to come to terms with stupidity, and make it work for you."

Thanks for the response, Mike. I've checked all protocols with EtherPeek and none are showing excessive traffic. I thought is may be a chattering NIC, but again, that would show a traffic load. 3Com thinks it may be a failing fiber module in the back of one of my 3300's. Another suggestion was a faulty electrical ground. I checked ground on every device. Nothing showing there. I have about 600 workstations feeding 9 data closets, a single 3300 switch in each closet. Feeding each switch are dual-speed 3Com hubs. I don't get into management, so the boxes are native. The network has run flawlessly for several years. We're migrating to all HP ProCurve boxes in about a year.
