Hi

I have a situation:

1 phisical network, 1 switch 3com 4500.
I want to separate this network on 3 logical networks.
I created 2 and 3 VLAN, and is ok, but I must one port, who see ports in VLAN 1, 2 and 3.
I tryed set port ex. 48 on trunk, and
I set "port trunk permit vlan all", and nothing.
I also tryed set port 48 on hybrid, but not working.
I can see (send ping and have answer) ports from one VLAN. It's depends on how nomber of PVID is assigned to port 48.

Can you any suggesstions?

PS. Sorry for my english

If you want to see more than one vlan on a port, first put it in trunk mode. Then place the port in the vlan's make sure you've put it in the default vlan Untagged. The rest is tagged to the vlan. Thats how i set this up for VOIP.

Hi

Thanks for reply.

//If you want to see more than one vlan on a port, first put it in trunk mode. Then place the port in the vlan's make sure you've put it in the default vlan Untagged. The rest is tagged to the vlan//

I just have this configuration! - not working.
Port is seeing only in VLAN where is VPID is set.
ex. command from console:
[4500]interface Ethernet 1/0/48
[4500-Ethernet1/0/48]port trunk pvid vlan 1
/after this port is seeing in 1 (default) VLAN
[4500-Ethernet1/0/48]port trunk pvid vlan 2
/after this port is seeing in 2 VLAN, but not see in another.
command for port: [4500-Ethernet1/0/48]port trunk permit vlan all - is set corretly.

I tryed also with hybrid port. I set port "untegged" in all VLAN's and not working.

My present configuration:

A thought has crossed my mind, that VLAN 1 has set IP, other VLAN's hasn't set IP, but I don't want set few differents interfaces. I want 1 interface with one IP but with 3 or 4 VLANS and one port which beeing see from All VLAN's

It's possible if you want more then one VLAN on a port.
Put a port in the VLAN 1 untagged, the rest of the VLAN's can only be tagged on that same port NOT untagged.

If then u plug in a PC in that port, it wil see the untagged vlan, but when you set on that PC a VLAN id it will go to that vlan.

If you want to go across the vlan's then your switch have to understand VLAN routing, I don't think the 4500 will do that. What you then can do is put a router between the VLAN's.

Another thing, did you upgrade to the latest version?!
With older versions there where some strange things like you could not ping the IP of the VLAN anymore, but after a reboot it all worked again.

Thanks Bas

Yes I have the latest soft version.
3com 4500 can routing beetwen VLAN's.
But I don't want routing. I want to create 3 logical nets.
On this moment I have Planet switch 2402RS with Vlans and is works great, but sometimes it drop packet.
