Hi!

I have a 4400 that I need to set up a VLAN on. When I browse to the switch and try to follow the manuals instructions, I have all the menus on the switch, EXCEPT for the VLAN menu option. I checked and I have the right firmware and the warranty support is old, so I can't get 3com to talk to me. Anybody know how to get the VLAN option to show up so I can configure this thing? Thanks!

Upgrade the firmware to at least 4.00, I think. I have a few 4400 at 3.12 and they don't have the VLAN options. The rest of my 4400 are at 5.00. Time to update. I think the latest is at 6.something.

## Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should.

1) Make sure you are using a password that allows you to access the Vlan menu (I don't think they all do).
2) You can try either the web interface or the telnet interface (telnet lets you do some things that don't show on the web).
3) If you need to update firm ware, you might want to used 3com Network Supervisor with the 90 day trial of the advanced package (several versions are available, make sure it matches what OS you use). You need to free register it to get things started. You can use it to do the find and upgrade for you.
