I purchased an Avaya 3920 wireless telephone from an on line venfor. When I recieved it directly from Avaya I tested it out on my work bench. The bottom row of buttons (4 buttons) are not responding. They act like they are not connected. The last four buttons are lines three through six. I have those lines programmed on the processor.

Avaya sent me a replacement 3920. Same thing. I do notice that they are refurbished. I have a beat up old 3920 and it works great with all eight buttons.

This is from the manual. Might be worth removing/adding the lines back on:

Administration
The PARTNER system views your Avaya 3920 Wireless Telephone as if it is an
MLS-12D telephone. However, there are only six programmable buttons on your
Avaya 3920 telephone, rather than the 12 buttons that are available on the
MLS-12D telephone.
The Avaya 3920 Wireless Telephone provides eight buttons. However, the first
two buttons (from the left) on the top row are used as intercom buttons.
In order for the Avaya 3920 Wireless Telephone to operate correctly, perform the
following administration:
1 Remove all line appearances from the extension to which the Avaya 3920
telephone is connected.
2 Assign up to six lines or pools to that extension.

I tried that, it did not help. It is as if the buttons are not connected, electronically speaking. After I had removed the lines you could tell the two top buttons were connected electronically, even though they did not draw dial tone.

I reinstalled the lines. No difference.

Im having the exact same issue, with two brand new sets. I have an old 3920 and works pefect on the same port? Very confused here.

The online dealer I purchased the 3920 with the above trouble does not stock equipment in their own warehouse. The telephones were shipped directly from Avaya's warehouse. Therefore the online dealer was able to work directly with Avaya. The online dealer concured with me that the two 3920's had the same issue (both replacement 3920's). Avaya was mystified by the two telephones with the same issues. It sounds like their is a batch of defectibe 3920's. I might also add, the origial 3920 was new the two replacements were refurbished. I would go back to whoever you purchased your 3920 and have them contact Avaya tech support.
