OK, weird problem here that's never happened before...

Got (2) 3904's that I'm trying to put Plantronics headsets on. When you hit the "headset" key, it'll access key 0 (or any other key you want), but I don't get anything through the ear piece.

Now, these headsets are brand new. I've swapped one of the other headsets that work on someone's elses phone. I've even swapped in a new 3904. Checked the volume levels under the "options" key, as well. I've checked the CLS info for one of the phones not working, and one that does, and they look the same.

What gives? Is there some in the software programming I'm missing?

TIA,

Tommy

Did you set the On hook default path to headset (In the config of the phone, via the check mark, option 16)?

Forgot to mention that. I sure did...

I just went through this yesterday and got my plantronics headset to work.Mine was wireless though. What is your model type?

are you using the headset jack & if so are you using the plantronics powered cord. the plantronics part number i've got is A10-12-S1/A, Apollo but i gues this will differ for different markets

jimeec - The model number for the amplifier is M12. All the settings are correct, as far as the switch in the side of the unit.

I've used a headset that worked on another phone and hooked it up to either of the two that aren't working, and it does the same thing - accesses the line, but you get no dial tone.

Like I said, I've used these headsets without fail and never had this kind of problem in the 2 years that I'm at this place. That's why I figured I'd post here...

Some info that might help...3903's and 3904's etc...dont use the regular planetronics headset with amp setup that the other models use...they use a special headset that does not need the amp...the phone has the amp built in...the headset we are using I dont remember the brand...but it has the numbers 09-03p4s on the earpiece and s07667 e3 on a white barcode sticker on the cable...
I will try and lookup the part info for you if I can find it...Hope this helps

just my 2 cents :

using the amplifier does not cause a problem in the phones

can u test the headset/ amp in another phone?

HRTECH - No batteries here. I use power supplies.

senk1s - I've done that already. The things work in other phones, but not these two in particular.

Never encountered this before....weird..

I had the same problem when we changed our CS10's out for the new CS50's hooking it up to a 3904. Check the switch settings on the Plantronics unit that is what fixed my problem, everything was setup correctly in the phone. When you try pressing the headset key on the 3904 it will not pick up right? This is what was occuring when I had the problem and changed the settings on the amp. Plantronics has a compatibility list on their website for what types of phones that their equipment works with, might not be compatible with a 3904. I have only used M12's with 2616 everyone that has a 3904 has a CS10 or CS50.

Let me say this one more time - I've got AT LEAST 25 of these headset units working here. These two that aren't working are the first I've come across.

With the headset plugged in, you CAN access the "headset" key, and it WILL grab a line. There's just no audio.

Swapping headset units doesn't change a thing when plugged into either of the phones that aren't working, so it's not the headsets. The switches are all correct, as well as the gain pot, on the side of the headset unit.

I've swapped in a new 3904, figuring since I've changed every component involved with the headset, that that HAD to be it. New 3904 doesn't do anything, either.

This is what lead me to make this thread. I was thinking it was something in the software layout for the phones. By looking at TNB print out of the two phones that it isn't working on, and one that does work, they look the same to me.

I'm thinking my only other option is to OUT the two phones that aren't working, then copy them from one that does and see if that fixes it.

Thanks again for all your help.

- Tommy

Maybe the 3904's that aren't working need to have thier firmware software updated.

could it be possible, thats the 39xx phones have bad headset jacks?

jimeec - That's a possibility. What's involved in taking care of that?

senk1s - I already swapped out phones, after swapping out headset components.

Thanks again, all.

Nah, I don't think it is. It's two separate phones on two separate cores (20 0 5 10 and 12 1 5 10)..

%-)

TommyT1,
Please let us know how this got resolved. I've been following along and am really curious.
