I have an cs1000 with rel 4.5w. There is one 3903 set that can receive calls but cannot use any buttons. IDU looks normal firmware is 85. We have swapped phones and I have outed and rebuilt on the same TN. I guess my next step is to move to an new TN, just wondering if anyone else has experienced this. IT is not just the soft keys it is also the programmable keys that don't function. Even hold doesn't work.

That is strange - replacement phone acts the same. I swap TNs with an existing working one and see if problem follows or stays the same

T&M customer, they don't want to pay for a dispatch but it may come to that. I have tried everything I can think of.

reload the firmware 1st.. if it is still bad, swap it with a working phone.. the instrument can be bad as well.. one of the 1st things i do is make sure the physical set is good. saves time

Hey J.P. aren't the 3903s suppose to be at firmware 87 and the 3904s at 89??.

Latest firmware is da88 for 3903 and da90 for 3904 and 3905.

Why not just swap the phone with a working phon and see if it works there and if it does then swap the TN with another TN and see if that fix's it. You should do trouble shooting starting with the easiest thing first.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

swapped the phone again it works now. thanks for all your input.

I had the exact same thing happen to me just yesterday with a brand new (refurb) phone. I swapped out the phone with another one and everythingis fine so I haven't done any further troubleshooting on the bad phone. I'm gonna plug it in some where and see what firmware it is on and see if changing it will fix it - one thing I did notice is that the silver tag on the bottm says it's a 3903 but the phone is clearly a 3904. I bet the refurb place got their wires crossed and stickered and firmwared a 3904 as 3903.

I'd feel bad about keeping the 3904 when I orderd 3903 however I also only order new, never refurb, so I have to ponder which wrongs outweighs which right.

I expect I'll call my rep and tell her the situation and she'll tell me to keep the phone if I can make it work. My karma is intact.

Did you do an IDU on the 3904 stikered as a 3903 to see what it say's it is????

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

I have had a supplier send me a Refurb in place of the new phone I ordered as they were out of them, so they sent me the the better phone rather then tell me they didn't have any. they made a sale and I got a better phone.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

You can't apply one set type's firmware to another set type. Even if you have a TN provisioned as 3903 and plug in a 3904 and then try to flash it, it will not process the download. This is why scheduled downloads can fail. The system will choke on the mismatch.
