We have an excessive amount of 3902 sets with faulty displays. Is this a common problem?

That is the Achilles heal of 39XX phones. The displays don't last as long as the rest of the phone does.

I have never had a bunch go out at the same time if that's what you're asking.

Never lost the displays all at the same time. We have been moving quite a few sets lately and have noticed several defective. Over the past year or so we have had many conplaints of broken characters in the displays.
