This may be the stupidest question posted here.

I have a 3902 with a desk mount base. Once I get the base off, I know how to change it to a wall mount. But I can't get the base off. Is there a release tab somewhere or a special way to get it off without breaking it? I've tried prying it off, sliding it off, pulling it off - no luck.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I believe there are tabs holding the base on, and you need to slide the base either up or down (I don't remember which), then pull the base off.

It would be up that I have to slide it, but it's not budging. It's deinitely held on with tabs, but they look like they should just slide out - but they don't.

I stand it on it's front edge and smack the back edge hard with my hand, it doesn't come off easy.

This is a Signature and not part of the answer, it appears on every reply.

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

Thanks, ace! Standing on it did the trick (and STILL it wasn't easy!)
