3750 stack losing its config

We had a 3750 lose its configuration out of the blue. The stack consisted of two 3750s and the top switch was set by priority to be the master. We lost access to the stack and via CDP information I could tell the switch lost its configuration. When we got to the stack the bottom switch was completely dark, but still powered on. We rebooted both switches and reapplied the configuration and it has been fine.

Has anyone seen this or know what causes this to happen?

Nope have never seen or heard anything like that with the 3750's . Did the unit lose power or take a power hit, sometimes something like that will cause it if you have unstable power or get get a quick power hit.

What configuration had it lost? Are you sure it lost *all* of it, or just the VLAN config?

We have several hundred of these installed and it's not unheard of for a member of a stack to lose its configuration. It goes back to default settings as if it had just been installed. Seems to coincide with power failures (although we have UPS's for all switches) but I've never seen all stack members lose their config at once. In my experience it's always been just one stack member. When it happens, a 'show switch' command produces something like this:
STACK# sh switch
Current
Switch# Role Mac Address Priority State
--------------------------------------------------------
1 Member 0000.0000.0000 0 Provisioned
*2 Master 001c.a7c7.1c80 1 Ready

Note the "Master" is now the surviving second switch. I'd like to be able to tell you how to prevent this but haven't found anything yet. We just deal with it when it happens.
