I am looking to add a 3720 handset to an existing 406 release 6.0, and have a couple of concerns. First is it even possible to add the required hardware on this release. Second question is it necessary to have both a radio base station and a AIWS (Avaya In-building Wireless Server). From what I am reading the AIWS (Avaya In-building Wireless Server)is used for larger deployments and offer features like a company directory.

AIWS is completely optional. I have never used one and have done many DECT installs ranging from 1 to 40 base stations.

Also DECT R4 should be fine on Release 6.0

Thank you Pepp77. If I recall an IP license is not necessary on the 406 is that what you recall as well? Currently I have a 3720, basic charger, SARI Certificate, radio base station with internal antennas, and an adapter for the RBS because they do not have any POE in place. Anything else that you can think of. Appreciate the feedback!!!

No IP endpoints should be needed, but make sure you have VCM channels :)

Only other thing you might want is an advanced charger for the handset so you can add in call button options etc. The advanced charger is a multi use thing for you to keep for future installs as well it doesnt go to the customer :)
