Hi all,

i have surfed on google and many forum 1 week ago to find my solution without success...

i'm a newbie with cisco router.

i have a linksys RV016 where my cable modem with static ip are plugged in my wan and he provide the internet on my 3560 switch

i have buy a 3640 router with a NW-2E2W to build a strong cisco network and my problem are started here (i also have a magnum TP1 AUI i'm not sure what it's do)

i have configured the ethernet 0/0 with my isp static ip
and the ethernet 0/1 with my lan ip

i have removed the rv016 to install this one anything doesn't work else i can log to my router via but i can ping at all

and tried to configure route without success, it return error and when no error it not work anymore.

do i miss a configuration? or hardware missing in w0 or w1

Anyone have few minute to tell me what's wrong...
my router can do the job why i have buy it?
Or i have buy the wrong router for my use?

Thanks, i will really appreciate your reply

Ray

Ray,

Post a show run, so we can see your running config on this router to help you.

How does your cable modem actually create an active link to your ISP?
Does it not have to authenticate with your ISP in some way - eg PPOE/A or something?

i have my cable modem (always online no auth required)
the authentification are made by my isp with the mac adress of the modem

i have static ip on this cable modem, i habitually just
configure my router like my linksys RV016 with static wan ip
i provide the ip, subnet and gateway and i'm online.
