I have a cisco 3548-xl-en switch which i have tried to upgrade without success.

Now when it boots it goes into a recovery mode which is not very helpfull, and i cannot find any documentation anywhere on how to get a new image onto the switch.

Does anyone know how to get a new image onto the switch.

When you get into RomMon you need to do an xmodem copy. It will be painful to update the IOS like that since it's so slow but that's the only way since you haven't booted to IOS and assign an VLAN IP to do a TFTP transfer.

I think the command is copy xmodem: flash:
Then in HyperTerminal go to Send File and only send the xxxxxx.bin file. Once that's done, (About 45 minutes later) type boot and you should be good. Then try to update the IOS again with TFTP so you can get the Visual Switch Manager files.

Before you reboot you might want do a write mem after you type in boot system flash:xxxxxx.bin in your config.

Hope that helps.
