3500 switch vtp domain 3

I am trying to configure a VTP domain on 3500 switch, and when I do I get this message "file Configure IFS filesystem file where VTP configuration is stored." What can I do to create a VTP domain?

It sounds like you are trying to configure VTP via Global Configuration in the CLI? Have you tried the following instead:

vlan database
vtp domain domainname

Hmm isnt the Vlan DataBase becoming defunct by Cisco? I wonder which IOS he is using

The 3500 is so old that is doesn't support global config mode for the vtp information . I think this mainly started with 12.2 code , 3500's (not 3550's) never got above like 12.0 code .

A double thanks - none of my books reference the old "vlan database" commands so I never learned them. I suppose I better at least give them a glance.
