Hi there,

we have a site which wants 3 users to share one mailbox.

We are familiar with programming mailbox keys on each phone to represent a single mailbox (to flash for messages, press to access mailbox etc), but how can we direct 3 extensions to one mailbox for callers to leave messages.

Is it a case of in the 'call rerouting' 'first alternative' for the voice mail hunt group having *xxx appended to it, where xxx is the mailbox number or some such?

Any ideas appreciated.

Thanks, Neil.

There are few options

1. VM distribution list. Users will receive the same messages but you need to have individual licenses and if the user deletes a message it affects his VM box only.

2. Transfer-only VM boxes. One real and two transwer-only to *<real ext>

3. Crazy rerouting. Here is the problem. Rerouting carries the original extension number, so when it reaches the VM system the original extension VM box gets processed.

There are ways to get around the original dialed extension by routing the call to an ACD Path which is subsequently rerouted to VM. This requires setting up a Blank ACD Agent Group and some basic knowledge of ACD to route the call but it will allow you to route 3 phones into 1 mailbox.

I have posted detailed instructions in the past that you might be able to find if you're good at searching.

Correct. And it will be well documented and explained. In about a year (or 1.5) someone will try to figure out what's the hell it is. Then nobody will use it, but config will be carried because nobody will remember why and for who it was built.
