3300: Ring Group Question 1

I have a Ring Group with an overflow point set to a station DN. When the ring group is not answered:

-If it is an outside call to the Ring Group (via our auto-attendant), the call will return to the main auto-attendant.

-If it is an internal call to the Ring Group extension, it will continue to ring at the overflow point station DN. (Voicemail will not pickup)

Is it possible to have the calls from the Ring Group go to:

(A) The voicemail at the overflow point, or
(B) Directly to a voicemail box.

you've definately got the re routing on the DN of the overflow extension to go to Voicemail?

yes you can send direct to VMS. Just create a mailbox the same number as the Ring group Pilot number and set the overflow to the VMS Hunt group

Just watch out for Message waiting. In a group scenerio it lights the lamp of the first extension in the group

Thanks Mitelmatt. I wish that I could have directed the message waiting indicator to a specific extension.

I'm going to try and overflow to an analog extension with an old fashion answering machine. This way the location I need to review messages will have a visual reference when a message is waiting.

As a skeenky trick to get round the message waiting issue, what i've done is just either create a or a dummy Hot Desk user and put that as the 1st member of the ring group. because it's not logged in it will never get calls or anything. Then you can set Remote Message Waiting keys of that extension on the other phones you want to get the MWI
