Have noticed that the printer port when programmed for smdr it works perfectly.
However if the printer or call buffer which ever is connected directly to the port is unavailable ( i.e switched off or unplugged from port) for at least 2 days the port stops sending out data.
But its 1752 "smdr" does not stop logging calls.

The problem is that when the connected device comes back up it doesnt get anything from the port.
My question is : How then do I get the printer port to start sending out data again?
Have tried 1. rebooting the 3300
2. reprogramming the smdr & port
3.leaving the device connected & up for days hoping the 3300 will finally communicate with it.
All of the above has failed.

Just reposing the question.

There may be and XON XOff issue here. Connect your laptop to the port with a straight through serial cable. Be sure to match baud rate.

Then do a CTL-Q
See if that makes a difference.

Should of added this to...
It could resolve itself with an overnight reboot.

Please give me details on your first response <CTL-Q>.What exactly should I do after connecting a serial cable.

CTRL-Q and its opposite CTRL-S are Control characters that stop and start the data on a serial port.

Press and hold CTRL then press Q, then release both.

This will restart the port if it is currently stopped.

Sometimes on poor connections or connections without the proper pins or when the Baud rate / parity is set incorrectly it may happen that some random data is sent to the 3300 on the printer port that is received as a CTRL-S (Stop).

Pressing CTRL-Q may re-start it but does not address the underlying issue, why did it stop?

Occam's Razor - All things being equal, the simplest solution is the right one.

Make sure to have the baudrate on the serial port set the same as that for the printer (default = 12oo baud I believe) - you can check this in the System Port Assignment form

Does anyone know the DB9 printer port pinout on the 3300 Mxe leading to the connection of a printer ot external call buffer.

Im thinking that my wiring of the DB9 printer port could be astray for the external buffer that I use.
Is there someone out there who has wired an external buffer & knows the pin assignment of the printer port who can help me?
Please help me by filling in the below:-

DB9 pin Connection
1 ?

5 ?
6 ?
7 ?
8 ?

Is it possible to connect an external buffer to the printer port on SC1000 & what are the pin assignments?
Anyone with a full knowledge on SMDR & PRINTER PORTS please help according to the start of this posting.

Hie to you all,Im sorry for bringing back this post once more but It has not been concluded.Could someone offer some advice please.
