Hi all,

Another question I hope I can ask correctly.
I've been tasked with trying to setup our phone and paging system to alert our employees of a fire in one of our three buildings.

Not sure if anyone has accomplished this feat by automating fire alerts where an external company calls our company to trigger a page in our paging system that would announce a fire in a certain building.

Summary:
Out Maintenance chief wants to automate an incoming call into our Mitel 3300 from our Security/Fire Protection/Alerting company where it triggers an automated message to be broadcast over our paging system announcing a fire in 1 of 3 of our buildings.

I think this process can be done - we currently have an after hours DID line where sick employees call-in and it rings a tone bell that is broadcast on the paging system and alerts the guys in the shop of a phone call in the office.

More details needed?
Any ideas or hints on where to start?

Much appreciated!
TIA.

Last time I checked, paging is accessible via DISA.

An automated device could dial in via DISA and page no problem. (Or a live person if you prefer)

Hi kwbMitel,

Much appreciated on the all the help you given me so far.

I found this doc for configuring DISA - look accurate?

Is there anything else I need to consider - how would I send the incoming call to the paging system?

Similar to my tone bell request in the past where we sent a signal to the paging system with an incoming call?
Not sure if DISA works the same way...

Thanks!

Whatever device/person is dialing into the system needs to access paging via the access code.

Typical Call Flow:
Call inbound to DISA number
System returns dialtone
- Optional Account code required (dialed by external device/person
Paging Access code dialed by external device/person
Paging initiates and announcement made

Depending on your software version, the loudspeaker paging might not be accessible via DISA. If this is the case you might need to use a loopback trunk and ARS to access. See the FAQ faq1329-5872 on how to set up a loopback trunk.

Thanks kwbMitel.

Ok - access code based, got it.
I'll give it a try.
