As long as the I-Button (SysID) goes too, no problem.
Make sure to boot the replacement system without drives up to the point that it fails to load. This will clear the RAID controller register. Then you can put the drives in and boot.

That's great, thanks for the response and apologies for the next set of stupid questions.
Is there anything specific I would need to do to ensure the sysid is transferred?
Also just to get this clear in my head, if I did this would the new controller boot with the same system settings etc., I wouldn't need to do a restore?

The I-Button is a physical component that looks like a battery. It can simply be removed from the old controller and placed in the replacement controller.
The new system will boot and function without any other action required.

I think you are forgetting the RTC settings
You will need to set the IP address subnet mask and gateway first or you will have some problems with the network element form especially if it is networked

Changing Harddisk on Raid. Power up the controller with no HD in at all. Wait for the yellow led (both) to go on.
Then power down the controller and the Raid has been reset to accept other harddrives. Place the other set into the Raid and power up the controller.

I'm a little confused now however. The network info is currently set up on the existing operational controller (faulty and keeps rebooting itself, hence the need to replace it, apologies I wasn't clearer on this before).
Would the network settings not just be pulled from the database of the existing hard disks that I will be moving to the new controller.

The IP addresses are stored in the memory of the RTC board seperate. While booting the 3300 it will start testing it's HW and then it goes through it startup sequence. Interrupt by pressing Space Bar couple of times when you are prompted to do so. Change the IP addresses here and then Type @ after stepping through the startup file.(it's automaticly saved).
