So my boss has given me a task to investigate in some of the tech work and also to see what mitel would say on why these drives are starting to fail..

So i have a Drive that Supposedly went bad during a backup with sectors that were gone..

and my question is i have the cables to connect the drive to my PC im wondering first if i can even browse this drive.

I tried using stellar phenox data recovery but i wasnt able to see anything on this drive and ill try another one tomorrow. IM not sure what type OF file system it is running.. Fat ? ext3 ?

just trying to browse some directory structures....

is there some good software out there that i can look at these days its a regular 40gb maxtor mitel drive.

im checking it before sending for repair..

Thanks; )

I know about the Fix partition I just want to use some software to check on Drive sectors and possiblly grab from Files for recovery Procedures and possibbly do a standard Image on the drive..

Thanks ;)

Even if you could retrieve the files from a defective drive you would not be able to read them. If you were crazy enough to actually use them, you would be taking unecessary risks in my opinion.

Rebuild from scratch, or the most recent backup and learn from the experience.

well i was able to open it with the Stellar Phoenix Program

i had a bad vantec Ide connector..

But any ways i was able to get into it and view a few files 1 curosity on how they do the directory structure.

and i have a 50Mb rtc8620 and a same Mb 50 mb RTC8620_backup File and when i take the backup from the 3300 i name it like a tar.gz or just open it in the winrar and i get a DB of all the forms in use and passwords. Its pretty cool but i was just wondering if that file was the one.

But this drive is ToASt i cant read the sectors i do see the dir with all the files but i try to move or copy nothing..

ill check on a few tomorrow OHH and news mitel just sent back A replacement drive DATED back in 04 when they had the recall on their drives .... my boss is furious.

Ohy soo thanks

Early-on we also experienced an unusually high failure rate on the drives in the 3300. The last couple years I don't think we've had to replace any, so something's changed for the better.
