3300 Matrix connection

Using a matrix cable, I have connected 2 switches a 3300 and 3300XN. They have 2 different IP addresses, and when powered up they take each other down. Should they be configured with only one IP to represent the virtual stack?

They should not go down. You can have 2 IP addresses. Check the code version on the 2 to make sure that they are running the same version. Try 2.69.

I had matrix cables ages ago for my 3300's and i'm a fairly sure my software rev was ancient and mine worked fine.

Possibility the matrix cable is faulty?
