Hi, complete newbie here...

we have recently installed the 3300 system coupled with 5330 ip phones and a teleworker solution.

My boss wants to know how to make Conference calls.

can anyone offer me a method???

On the 5330IP phone it's an onscreen prompt, however:

You must first allow conference calls in the class of service associated with the phone.

You must set the maximum number of trunks and exts allowed to concurrently be in a conference. (Max of 8) Do this in the Systems Options Assignment form. (toll-fraud tip - never allow more than 7 trunks to be in conference)

Make sure to set interconnect checking for conference calls to "no

Thankyou for your reply.

I have set the three conference call values to 7 as suggested.

"< Make sure to set interconnect checking for conference calls to "no" >"

you suggest setting the interconnect checking to no...

I see from the help files that the default is no, however the installers of our system must have set this to 'yes'

can you please explain what this setting is so I can understand your suggestion...

Many thanks.

Interconnect restriction is one of several possible ways to prohibit two trunks (i.e., outside lines) from being tied together. The REASON for doing this is to help thwart toll fraud. However, if you have a trusted user, they should be allowed to make such conference calls.

I would suggest a class of service setting for my user that had interconnect checking for conference calls set to "no" and then also had 'Allow Public Network-to-Public network' set to "no" as well.

In this way the conference should collapse, disconnecting all parties when the person who originated the conference call hangs up - otherwise these calls get left tied together and you get stuck with the bill.
