Hi,

Ourt Maintenance guys want an internal number for our shop and distribution workers to call at any time during the week.
That number should have the capability to be forwarded to a different pager each night.

Was wondering if I could setup an internal number that could forward to a different pager each night of the week.
Would I have ot create 5-7 diff pager numbers in a speed dial?
And have them forward the internal number from their phone to the speed call pager number each night?

Should or could I give the user control to change this every night?
Is there an eaier way to do what I need to accomplish?
Does this make sense?

Thanks for any input or help steering me in the right direction.

The solution I use uses 1 key for each forward destination.

The system speedcall contains the entire forwarding string including feature access codes for Third Party Call forward follow me.

Each key is then labeled and programmed to dial the system speed dial.

Lowers user error. As an added bonus, the system speed call can be accessed via DISA allowing the forwarding to be changed remotely.

Mobile extension is also quite handy for this application.

yes with mobile extension you can call the TUI number internally and externally and program it. Takes 2 minutes.

We put a 2nd phone on the wall in the Mtce dept. just for this express purpose then programmed individual personal speed call buttons, 1 for each support person. However, we set the phone up in a special COS so that the CFNA timer is set for 1 ring before forwarding. Fwd'g is thus done via CFNA rather than CFA.

Why? Because the client wanted to see the CallerID of the original calling party on their cell phones and with CFA they were only seeing the internal pilot # of the VM system. (calls were coming to this number from a VM menu tree). By delaying the cut-thru with CFNA stead of CFA they now see the CID of the caller.

As an aside, the Maint. Chief established the rule that the person Going OFF call was responsible for changing the pager phone, not the person coming ON. That way if you get a call you shouldn't have received, it's your own fault for not remembering to change the callout phone.

We also had another client (obvious Texas A&M grad, this one) wanting calls to round-robin after hours automatically to different destinations based on the day of the week. We accomplished this in voice mail (Octel) with a "race" of multiple type 35 conditional transfer mailboxes daisy-chained together and multiple separate attendant schedules. Think you can do this w/NuPoint as well.

The Caller ID issues MIMB mentions no longer exist on a 3300 with the latest software or when using Mobile Extension. Caveat: The Telco must allow remote numbers to be displayed in either case.

The benefit to ME or using system speedcall is the ability to change the forwarding number remotely.

Hi all,

Thanks for the great input.
But, I don't know where to start.

Sounds like Mobile extension might be the quickest and easiest so far?

I have no idea how to configure. Can I get a hint of what form(s) to start with?

Thanks!

Mobile Extension is an Application that would be purchased from Mitel and installed on a separate server running MAS

HI kwbMitel,

Thanks for the response - Ok, got it.

Ended up setting up an extra extension and let them forward from the phone using "*2" -> Call Forwarding: Follow Me.

Better ideas?
I appreciate the help.

What you have serves the purpose.

Keep it simple to start with and see if you have any issues. Fix as necessary.

I could use some more detailed help with how to do this (basically remote call forwarding) using the DISA - Call Forward approach from outside the office. I have my DISA trunk setup, but then how do I set it up to forward a particular extension? How do I tell it which extension I want to forward.

Thank you!

Ditch the pager!
Mobile extension is the best solution all around. This will ring both the desk phone and the user's cel phone (or any other phone you choose on or of the system).

You can change the twinned number by calling into the Telephone User Interface. It will prompt you to enter your desktop extension number and password. Option 3, change the destination - don't forget to dial a 9 (or your outside access code).

The other ideas will work too.
