If we were to set up several phones with PKM-48s, could these be used with hotdesking? In other words, would the hotdesk user's complete set of key apps & speed call buttons follow him from one set to another (assuming all would have PKM-48s on them)?

Is the PKM-48 supported in a resilient configuration?

Thanks!!

Hot Desking Users can have up to 96 keys i believe. Yes PKM's are supported in resiliency, using the SDS feature

Thanks. I too thought it was 96 (2 PKM-48's), just wasn't sure it was hot-deskable or resilient.

The bigger problem is 2 PKM-48s + the base instrument and suddenly you have a phone the size of a church organ.

From the Help Files said:
A hot desk user cannot be provisioned with a PKM. If a user logs in to a hot desk set with a PKM, the PKM will be disabled.

Good spot!

The reason why you can still have 96 keys on a hot desk was for the turret.

So the answer is yes a PKM keys can be made resilient and yes the Hot Desk user can have 96 keys. BUT they can't be used together!! ::))

Thanks! (Saved me some time plowing through the docs)

So what I think I'm hearing is the only way for me to give my Hotdesk user 96 keylines is to give him a 5560 Turret. Is that the general gist of things? And the 5560 is supported in a resilient config?

What would the keylines be used for?

The 5560 is not a normal set with more keys.

We're still struggling with the issue of replacing some "real" turrets (Etrali Etradeal Mach-II) with a Mitel solution. The application issue is the number of single button speed calls and approx 8 DIDs in broadcast groups w/8 other phones.

The old turret system is long ago M/D & is being held together (figuratively) with duct tape. It's running as a key system slaved off a 2K using E1 Etsi Q.sig trunks and still works, but is a ticking bomb. The internal Risk Management folks say upgrade it (6 figures $$) or get it on a MA or replace it. The manufacturer says they won't write an MA for it because software, system hardware and turrets are all M/D. It's junk. The management platform is running on NT4 for Chrissakes.

I have funding to replace it w/resilient 3300s w/trunking gateways, but the client is adamantly fighting us tooth & nail ref the comparatively sparse number of speed call buttons the Mitel can provide.

I talked to them about YA and the new UC product, but that requires marrying the phone with the PC which involves contending with the desktop support folks, Microsoft weekly patch management, frequent rebooting, a 3-yr lifecycle (on the pCs) and all the other frailties. The requirement is that the phones be completely separate from the PC and be dependable. "Dependable" and "Microsoft" are two words that do not fit together even in the same paragraph, let alone the same sentence.

Have you considered an HTML application for a 53XX to provide extra keys?

Hi

I've replaced Etrali system with Turrets (5560) on numerous occasions and haven't had any complaints. the Turret is by far better in Trading environments than a PKM.... plus dealers like them because they're different!!

So on the Turret you have 96 keys you can do what you want with, speed dials and key lines. You can even "share a key" as a key line appearance and speed dial if you want. So in the trading environment you can have one key for incoming and outgoing from a particular bank etc. This is set up using hotlines. Works a treat. Came in r8.

Let me know if you need any more help
