I have a 3300 MXE release 5.0 and the External Hot Desking is working except for the mid-call feature. When I call in on my PSTN and connect to a 3300 internal extension and try to press 3 for conference all I hear is the DTMF tone at both parties. I have mid-call enabled.
System options: External Hot Desking - Single Digit Mid Call Features is set to "yes"
In my cos for the EHDU cos 21 I have Hot Desk External User - Allow Mid-Call Features set to "yes"
I have tried playing with the answer supervision but to no avail, it is like I do not have a DTMF receiver while on the analogue PSTN trunk and if not I am not sure how to hold one.

I believe you need to access the system via the System Access points for Mid-Call features to be available. There is also a call recognition service that may apply but I don't think analog PSTN would be supported.

What's most important is that you realise ... There is no spoon.

thanks for your reply, I have pointed the analogue trunk to the system access point and I am using call recognition and that part works great, it is after I go through that process and do successfully connect that I can't get the mid-call features to work.

I was looking for a setting but how do we tell the 3300 to keep a receiver on the trunk after it is answered. With out a receiver on the trunk will mid-call features work on analog?

I'd tell you a UDP joke but I'm afraid you won't get it. TCP jokes are the best because you always get them.

LoopyLou thanks for the reply and that is exactly what I was wondering. I have read the docs a number of time and did not see any conditions saying an analog line cannot have mid-call features

It says in the docs that EHDU is supported on analog but not recommended due to lack of answer supervision in some cases. But it never really says that mid call is available and unless a receiver remains attached to the call then I would not think mid call would work.

I'd tell you a UDP joke but I'm afraid you won't get it. TCP jokes are the best because you always get them.

What type is the internal extension? Try calling something that is over a SIP/IP trunk.

Also, I take it the logs show no problems getting a DTMF detector?

thanks for the reply IrwinMFletcher but I don't have any SIP/IP trunks on this switch only Pri and now I added one analog line to test this feature.
yankblan, I am not sure what you mean as I am calling in on a cell phone.

Do you have voicemail? If so, make sure that you can navigate the menus from your cell phone. Whenever cell phones are involved, it's always a good idea to make sure that the DTMF is actually getting sent through properly. The detectors in the system require specific levels/durations to indicate a valid digit.

I can navigate through voicemail and can dial any internal extension when I connect to the System Access Point, it is only after connecting to an extension that I cannot dial, no DTMF receiver I would guess and not sure how on an analog line to keep a receiver on the call. Thanks for your reply IrwinMFletcher.
