One of my voice mailboxes is not able to transfer callers to an external phone number. The mailbox is programmed as Tranfer Only. I set up a System Speed Dial #413 and programmed it with the Actual Number(918xxxxxxx). In the Transfer Only voice mailbox form, I added 413 to the Extension Number field.

When I call the hotels main number, I get the auto attendant. I select option 3 which is the Transfer voice mailbox referenced above. I hear the mailbox NAME and then there´s a pause of silence for approximately 5 or so seconds. I then hear the mailbox GREETING. There´s another pause of silence for approximately 5 seconds and then I´m transferred to the operator.

I had someone in the hotel dial the system speed dial number, 413, and it calls the external phone number.

Suggestions?

Your system programming is incorrect . Testing your speedcall is not trouble shooting your problem !

The most likely issue is that the VM port is restricted from calling the number (is toll override enabled in the speedcall?)
Next most likely is that the VM port is not allowed public trunk to public trunk connections in COS
There are other possibilities but those cover the most likely

Simplest test is to program a standard phone with the same COS and COR as a VM port then call that phone from an external number and try to transfer the call to the speedcall. When it fails, the phone should at least give you a clue as to why.

What's most important is that you realise ... There is no spoon.

It is a fairly common practice to restrict voicemail ports from accessing external numbers. This would be part of a plan by the programming to avoid the possibility of toll fraud. Follow kwbMitels suggestions as they will likely be the solution however if you do so you may want to verify that callers can't dial through the AA to external numbers.

An apple a day keeps the doctor away. Anyone else and you need to throw it harder.

Toll overide was not enabled in the speed call
VM port was allowed allowed public trunk to public trunk connections in COS

kwbMitel & LoopyLou, the toll overide was the problem. LoopyLou, I don't know how I would place an external call from the AA and I'm not going to ask you how I would do so on this forum for security reasons.

kwbMitel & LoopyLou, you are both gentleman and scholars. Thank you so much for contributing to my thread.
