Hi again,

Wondering how to add new names/Telephone Dir Entries to the Busy Lamp Field List in the IP 5550 console software?

I read the help options and can edit the groups/lists but cannot lookup certain names that show up in the phonebook lookup in the console software but not when editing the Busy Lamp Field List?

Ther are a number of our old numbers 56XX/58XX extensions - but not a recently added new DID range - 87XX?

What form or config option did we miss for making sure the numbers show up?

Make sense?
Need more info, please advise - thanks!

A busy lamp must be created on the system for every phone that you want populated in the BLF field.

Mitel's recommended method is to create a phantom ext (5224)with a dual PKM to provide up to 119 BLF fields.

Another method that I have heard of is to use the Remote BLF form and Add the phones directly there.

Hi kwbMitel,

Looks like I found the form - Remote BLF - all the 56XX and 58XX phones are listed there.

However, I can't add a name - the field is there but no input box in my browser?

Or can I add the Local Host Set Dir number either?

Any ideas?

Thanks,

-SP

It takes the name from the extension number input in the Telephone Directory Assignment Form. You can't edit the name directly on the Console as far as i'm aware

Maybe an idea to let the system send out the users to the console on request
This way you do not have to make a virtual extension

you don@t have to make a virtual extesnion with PKM anymore. When you create an extension it atupmatically puts it in the remote BLF form. This then creates a file for the console to see. You Then go into Edit BLF on the console and create you different groups

Just also check in Tools Options in the console that BLF is enabled

Hi Guys,

BLF should already be enabled - we are using it.

I have current names/Exts in the Dir Assign form for 87XX exts.
But, I can't see the names/Nums in the BLF form or in the IP 5550 BLF Editing?
Just our old DID ranges of 56XX and 58XX only...

More clues?

Thanks,

-SP

You may have found the issue with creating the BLF directly in the form. This may be why Mitel recommends the other method.

The following note is from the help files: Attendant Busy Lamp Field Display

If the required remote DSS/BLF keys are not already programmed in the system, program a personal IP phone for the attendant and then assign DSS/BLF keys against a "virtual" PKM. A "virtual" PKM is only programmed in the system and doesn't physically exist. To program a personal IP phone (5020 IP or 5220 IP) for the attendant, see Program Multiline IP Telephones.

Subtitute: "Phantom IP Phone" for "personal IP phone for the attendant"
Substutute: "5224 IP" for "5020 IP or 5220 IP"

As I said before, a 5224 set with a virtual Dual PKM can have 119 BLF Assignments on it. Using the import Spreadsheet it is quite quick and simple to program.

I do not recommend you put a virtual PKM for this purpose on an active phone but there's nothing stopping you if you want to risk someone deleting it accidently. A virtual PKM by itself can handle up to 96 keys.

I think it's worth it to burn a license or 2 and name the phone BLKKeys-DONOTDEL.

If phones are deleted and recreated, the BLF keys will need to be reprogrammed. I try to manage by modifying to avoid this issue.

good suggestion kwb, if it's a lrger site. Have used both methods in different circumstances

Hi guys-

Ok - now we are getting a bit complicated.

I think I understand most of what you are saying but may relay this info to the vendor tech now.

Unless you can give me some detailed steps I'll let him handle.

Thanks for your help!

The Detailed Steps are listed in the Help Files under:

Attendant Busy Lamp Field Display.

If the details listed there are not clear to you then by all means get outside help.

Good Luck
