H ave been use to the clicking with the modules but this is the first time I have encountered a HUM on the 308EC.

I have it mounted with a 3x8 PROC. in a 2 port carrier. Only the ports 9 thru 13 ( EXT's 18 thru 22 ) are humming ( EXT's 23 thru 25 ) are ok. I can hear dial tone but with aloud hum.

Could this stop after the module has "warmed up" after I have installed and will calm down as with the clicking issue or does it need to be serviced?

By the way thought the fuse was bad so I swapped it with a fuse form a 400 module. The carrier was the problem not the fuse should I switch the fuse back?

where they the same fuses ?

I dont see a fuse causing the "humming" sounds like power supply going bad .

Well guess what. I left it there to "cook" and the hum is gone. Pretty much like the PROC clicking issue I have had before. Let it warm up like an old vaccum tube and it works fine.

In my experience the 2 slot carrier is death to the modules it holds and ACS processors, replace that with a 5 slot carrier as soon as you can.

Before I replace it with the 5 slot can you tell me why you believe the 2 slot is a killer?

The 2 module carrier keeps modules very close together, thus making it harder to dissipate heat.

The new 5 module carrier has a somewhat wider spacing that allows for better heat dissipation. If there are only 2 modules being used in the system, the spacing is that much better. [thumbsup2]

Thanks for the feedback. The 5 slots are pretty cheap and this last install was a small one that I only used 2 cards in however it is in a hot warehouse with no ac at all.

A couple of suggestions help "cool" the Partner gear:

Mount some cooling fans (Similar to those found inside a PC) above the carrier to help pull the air through.

Point a high velocity fan at the underside of the carrier and let it run 24/7 when the temp and humidity is up. Do this if the air isn't too dirty, otherwise dust & dirt will be forced up into the carrier and that's not good. [sad]
