Hello,
Here is the system: OS - XP Pro, MB - Intel GB85010A, CPU - P4 2.0 socket 423, RAM - Samsung 2X512MB PC800,
SCSI Controller - Adaptec Ultra 160 Dual Channel 21960, Hard drives - Seagate Cheetah #0 ST336706LW,
#1 ST336752LW,#2 ST336752LC.
Here is the problem: All 3 drives stopped working at the same time. I used Norton 2003 fully updated to run virus check.
I have tried to fdisk the drives and in the Usage column it says 100%. It also says this in XP when I tried to reinstall.
XP will only allocate 8mb from any of the three drives for installation. This occurs after deletion and format in XP.
I also tried Win 95, 98 and Me. Also tied flipping the RAM,No luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Peace To You And Yours
Floyd

Is 8MB correct, or did you mean 8GB? What size are they detected as by your hardware? Mudskipper

Sounds like the controller has gone south but there is always the possibility that one drive is putting something on the bus that causes the other 2 to look different.
How about pulling 2 of the drives and do diagnostics on the remaining drive.
Probably need to get them set up again as singel before you combine them on the bus. Ed Fair

Any advice I give is my best judgement based on my interpretation of the facts you supply. Help increase my knowledge by providing some feedback, good or bad, on any advice I have given.

By chance, were these pieces of hardware already set up and working on a different MB, and then started to display the problems when moved onto the Intel GB85010A?

And if so, then have you tried the most current BIOS for that controller? Mudskipper

All 3 drives have been working just fine. I was doing some work in painshop pro 7.0 and the pc froze

I installed an 8gb ide drive and everything works. I will have another scsi drive by tuesday and will test it out.
