The report just has a detail section, no header or footer and 0 margins.
It shows the data for one cheque which prints on a preprinted A4 page with 3 cheques one above the other.
The old cheque paper which worked fine, had 3 cheques and a 5cm tear off strip on the bottom.
The new cheque layout has the 3 cheques completely filling the A4 page, i.e. just under 10cm height.
I spent the majority of Friday trying to get this to work. I thought i'd just have to alter the detail height.
If I set it to 9.9cm, the top cheque is fine, the next one down is 0.5cm high and the 3rd one is on the next page.
The only way I could get 3 cheques on the page was to reduce the section height to 9.5cm. The top fine is good, next is .8 high or so and the third 1.8 high.
I put a horizontal line at the top of the report and this prints 0.8cm from the top of the paper.
What on earth is going on? This is a simple little job, or should be, but it won't play nice.
Crystal version is 2008

Hi,
Have you checked the settings on the printer - perhaps it is substituting its margin settings for the ones in the report?

You could also try creating the report as a mailing label form ( 1 up) - that sometimes gives more options for spacing and # per page..

Well no, the user went back to the old paper and i restored the old report with the smaller detail height. Worked fine. I don't understand where the 1cm top margin has appeared from, that's what the problem is.
Can't abide Crystal, maybe it has noticed and decided to be awkward

The left-hand margin of your report should show you the section name of everything, including unwanted top margins. Page header is the most likely: right-click on this margin to get the option to suppress it.

Make sure the vertical size of the detail section will mathematically fit on your page size 3 times.

The detail height should be 99mm. However if i set it to this i get an unwanted 1cm border at the top and the 3rd doesn't fit on the page.
The only way I can get 3 on a page is to set the detail height to 95mm or so.

Madawc, i don't really understand what you mean. The page and report headers are suppressed and the margins top and bottom are zero.

It's in the other office and is a nuisance to setup to print 3 cheques. Next time I am there, i'll put a line at the top of the original report and see where it prints.

Meanwhile any other suggestions gratefully received
