Hi everyone,
I'm having some serious problems with a 3g moden supplied by '3' and windows mail.

A friend gave me their laptop telling me their e-mail 'stopped working.' After trying a few things i managed to get the e-mail working when the laptop was connected to my LAN perfectly.

However when using the 3g modem for internet acces I am getting the following message

"The connect to the ser has failed. subject'test' account:'mail.serverxxxxxx.com' Server: 'mail.serverxxxx.com'
Protocol:SMTP, port25, SEcure(SSL):NO
Socket Error:10060, Error number 0x800CCC0E.

After googling, it seems to be an authentication error with the SMTP server however i do not understand why this would change from using my bog standard home LAN to a 3g modem.
I did very quickly try '3's SMTP server with no luck either, although I admit i didn't try very thoroughly.

If anyone has any advice or past experience then i would be so so grateful.

Kind regards.

EDIT: I should mention normal internet access is fine with the 3g modem and new mails recieved just none can be sent.

Just to let everyone know i found a solution in case others have the problem.
Sorry to post so soon after I posted a question, I was virtually at my wits end, especially at 12:00 at night with a huge pile of work to do.

The network opertator it seems needed the outgoing email port to be changed from 25 to "587 or 465."
In my case 465 worked, 587 didnt. I presume they simply deliver them port 25.

It doesn't help their support pages are impossible to find and their search is shabby.

As an addition to the thread, anyone have any idea why they cant just accept standard e-mail data on port 25?

Thanks!
