Hi all!
I have a 900, running windows ME, with 20GB HD, 378 RAM, cdrw etc.
I have an old 4.2GB HD from an earlier computer (this drive has been tested by my local computer shop and is fine). I put the 4.2 in as a slave and at first boot up, everything was fine, both drives were recognized and working ok. When I shut down and booted up again, my C drive (the 20GB)runs in 'ms-dos compatible mode' and the 4.2 isn't recognised at all! In device manager the primary ide controller has a yellow exclamation point next to it. Bios settings are on 'Auto detect" for all drives, and I'm sure the jumper settings are correct. If I disconnect the leads from the 4.2 in the tower and then reconnect them, when I boot up again both HDDs are there and working normally, but then when I shut down and boot up again, thats when the above problem begins. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
