I upgraded a computer from win98 to xp pro. The computer had two hard drives, one Maxtor 120gig and one WD 80 gig running off of a maxtor ultraata100 pci card. Both worked fine. I backed up all the documents to the 120 gig drive, shutdown, then disconnected it. I then installed xp on the 80 gig drive including partioning and formatting it ntfs. After xp and all my other programs were installed, (and while the computer was off of course) I reconnected the 120 gig drive. XP shows the disk in My Computer, but it can't read anything off of it. It tries for a very long time, but eventually, if I try to copy something, it says "can't read from drive d" The second, 120 gig, drive is fat32.

Any ideas about what I can do to get xp to see the drive and read from it? I know it is an ok drive. I can put it in a win98 machine and run Norton Disk Doctor on it and it is a-ok.

Thanks....

Was goback installed on machine under 98?
You say 'I can put it in a win98 machine and run Norton Disk Doctor on it and it is a-ok.' - so you can read files from it under 98 still?

It was able to read files under 98. I got it fixed. It turns out that it needed a newer driver for the pci card than what I had.

Thanks....
