I reinstalled XP Pro on my C drive and did a complete reformat of that drive. I did this with the second drive (which I use for data, photo's, music, etc)disconnected as I did not want to accidentially reformat this drive as well and lose all my data. I then reattached my 2nd drive as the "slave" on my my primary IDE connection. (The C drive is set as the "Master" and the jumpers on both drives are appropiately set. I set both at "AUTO" configuration in the Setup bios. Everything works fine -- I can see the second drive as the computer boots as the slave and it also shows as an active drive in the Device Manager location on the Control Panel "System".
The probelem lies in the fact that either "My Computer" or "Windows Explorer" recognize the drive and no drive letter has been assigned. HELP!! Can anyone give me a solutiuon short of reinstalling XP and all my other programs with the 2nd drive connected?
