My computer was booting up fine and my two hard drives were working, but when I turned it on, I received an error when tring to access my 2nd hard drive. I tried opening up my drive and got this error, "The disk in drive E: is not formatted. Do you want to format it now" What happened? What caused this? Can someone help.

It could be the drive, its controller, or the MOBO. It sounds like it's either damaged, or the hardware is malfunctioning.

Does it have data that you MUST have, and it hasn't been backed up? If so, I'ld pull the drive out until I could determine what the problem is.

Did you have a bad shut down or a hang? That could have corrupted the drive.

hmm..this sounds remarkably like a problem I had with one of my clients very recently...could potentially be virus related although I never confirmed this. I was able to recover all the data using a tool called 'Stellar Phoenix'
very nice tool btw
