I installed 2K3 on a server box. (This was for my home, LUCKILY it was not a working environment...) After SP2 was installed, (and that is the ONLY update I as able to install) IE doesn't work anymore (thus the only update being SP2). I have cleared caches, deleted certs, lowered all securities to lowest, re-activated the IE Enhanced Security, re-installed IE6, installed IE7, removed IE7, uninstalled SP2, repaired the OS from the CD (the "R" option in the install menu)

Still NO IE! I know the network card(s) are functioning, as I can RDP into the box from anywhere, and it is serving packets, (I can access shares on the server over the network), Ventrilo is functioning perfectly on both NICs. This issue ALL started because of SP2. I might mention that this was a PERFECTLY clean, formatted, default install of Enterprise Version.

If I had not already activated the install, I would just re-install from the ground up (from a format) but calling MS to re-activate is a PITA, and I'd rather not have to do that...

ANY suggestions?!?! I'll check anything!

You didnt mention what happens when you try to run it.

You could try firefox temporarily to isolate that it is a ie issue.

If you have Internet Explorer 7, you can repair damaged files or missing registration information in Internet Explorer 7. To do this, follow these steps:
1. Start Internet Explorer 7.
2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
3. On the Advanced tab, click Reset.
4. In the Rest Internet Explorer Settings dialog box, click Reset to confirm.

1: I get a "This page cannot be displayed" page, the VERY same one as trying to connect with no connectivity (either network or dial-up)

2: NOT using IE7, and if I don't have to, I wont (personally, I think it is a POS...). I have reset all of the settings to default in IE6, though.

If firefox isn't working its very unlikely the issue is ie.

The obvious question is are you using the correct proxy which i assume you are.

Any firewall/antivirus products turned on the machine?

Try using a ip address instead of a dns entry in case thats the issue.

Cable issue, try plugging another machine in on that cable, you could set the same ip to verify the other machine works.
