I just bought two used 2900 catalysts and I just put them in the rack and botted them up. I've only the console cables in them and the power. I ran initial setup wizard and gave each of them the exact same config. For some reason though, while in stat mode, they have green lights lit on random ports as if a link is present. Like I said I have no ethernet cables hooked to the switches so shouldnt I the LED be turned off? Does this indicate malfunctioning ethernet interfaces?

Frankly most guys don't even bother looking at those , i just log into the switch and look at the status of switch . Just log in and show ip int brief and look in the logs for any weird things other go to cisco.com and do a search on what you are looking for .

I found strange post errors on each port that is lit up in stat mode....for instance...

Yeah that looks shot time to RMA the unit to cisco if you have a contract if not time for a new switch ....

Highly dissapointing. I just bought these things from usedrouter.com . I'll get them on the phone when I have a chance to make an exchange. It just shows me that their techs do not in fact thoroughly go through each device and refurbish it befor they ship it out. I bet they just buy cheap stuff on ebay and then turn it over though their website.
